Catholic Schools Week Celebration

York Catholic will be joining the nationwide celebration of Catholic Schools January 26-February 2.  Students will honor service to the community, faculty/staff, and religious life throughout the week with a variety of activities including reading to children at partner schools, delivering gift bags and thank you notes to our bus drivers and teachers, and helping the cafeteria staff serve lunch.

To end our Catholic Schools Week celebration, we invite all students to show their Irish Pride on Friday, February 1 by participating in a Green and Gold dress down day!

Snowcoming Dance
Student Council is hosting a casual Snowcoming Dance Saturday, February 2, from 7-9 PM in the cafeteria for students in grades 9-12. Students from other schools are not permitted to attend.  All students must adhere to the casual dress code found on pages 15-16 of the student handbook/agenda.  Tickets are on sale January 22-25 during lunch periods at $6 per person.

Here are a few highlights of public events you are welcome to attend:

Family Mass & Battle of the Buildings
To kick off Catholic Schools Week, join us at our York Deanery Celebration Mass on Saturday, January 26, at 4 PM in the YC auditorium.  Attendance at this Mass fulfills your Sunday obligation.  Following Mass, we will move to the gym for the 5th Annual Battle of the Buildings at 6 PM.  This is a friendly inter-partner school competition of “minute-to-win-it” type games in the gym. The teachers are the competitors and the families are the fans.

The price of admission is a donated item for the Catholic Harvest Food Pantry. Every school will have a special table to collect these donations.  The top three schools with the most donations will earn points for their team! The following is a list of most needed items:  bars of soap, toothpaste, mac & cheese, hamburger/tuna helper, spaghetti sauce, canned soup, canned fruit, cake icing.

The York Catholic Music Association will have food & beverages available for purchase.

Each school has been assigned a color to wear so families can brighten the gym with their school’s colors while cheering on their team! A special t-shirt is available for order.  Short-sleeved shirts are $10 and long-sleeved shirts are $14.  All orders must be placed online only at before January 4.  Visa, MasterCard, or Discover are accepted.

Talent Show
Our annual Talent Show takes place Friday, February 1, at 1:30 PM where our students get an opportunity to showcase their talents for their peers and teachers.

We hope you can be a part of the celebration and we thank you for supporting Catholic Schools.
