Dear York Catholic Family,

As some of you may be aware, today, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

I am writing to reassure all constituents that our school is a separate legal entity, distinct from the Diocese of Harrisburg, and is not involved in the filing proceedings for bankruptcy.   The ministries and operations of parishes, Catholic schools, and entities, such as Catholic Charities, should not be directly affected by the Diocese’s Chapter 11 proceeding.  York Catholic constituents can rest assured that revenues of all forms provided to York Catholic High School are protected assets of York Catholic. York Catholic will continue to operate as usual, fulfilling our mission to educate our students in an atmosphere of faith, family, and mutual respect, preparing them to serve the global community, while guided by a Christian moral compass.

The Diocese has asked us to share resources regarding their reorganization.  These are posted to their website at www.hbgdiocese.org. I encourage you to review these resources as they do provide significant information on the next several steps in this process. If you have additional questions regarding the Chapter 11 process, please visit https://dm.epiq11.com/RCDH or call the bankruptcy information line at 1-866-977-0992.

Please continue to offer prayers for all individuals and faith communities impacted by the situation at hand. Your partnership in Catholic education is appreciated. Thank you for your continued trust and support of York Catholic.

Sincerely,

Katie Seufert ’96
Principal
