The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association requires all student-athletes to have a physical each year.  Physicals must be dated after June 1 for the upcoming school year.  For example, if wishing to participate during the 2018-2019 school year, the physical must be dated AFTER June 1, 2018.  Physicals can be scheduled with your own physician or on the specified York Catholic date in June at OSS Health (see above).

NEW!! The Athletic Department at York Catholic High School now hosts Athletic Forms online with Arbiter Athlete, powered by PlanetHS, a software company committed to keeping student(s) safe. This digital platform will allow parents and athletes to complete and access most athletic forms (physicals, agreements, etc.) via computer, tablet, or mobile phone. It is HIPPA, COPPA, and FERPA compliant.

Instead of printing 9 pages of information to take to the doctor as was needed previously, you will instead complete the information online and only print 2 pages for the doctor to review and complete.

Athletes cannot participate in sports until digital forms are complete. Forms will be valid for the entire school year, with the exception of the physical exam provided by your physician which will reflect the policy set in place by your athletic department.

If you have any questions regarding this new process, please contact Brad Hayek, Assistant Athletic Director, at or 717-846-8871 x244. If you need technical assistance with Arbiter Athlete/PlanetHS, email

A brief instructional meeting regarding these changes will be held for parents and athletes Wednesday, May 16, at 7 PM in the YC auditorium.

Note to parents of athletes entering Grade 11:  The Department of Health requires a physical for your child when entering grade 11.  The form used by the DOH is different from the form used by the PIAA.   Please be sure to take BOTH forms to your doctor.  Please note – OSS Health does not offer the school physical required by the Department of Health.  They only offer the sports physical required by the PIAA.

ImPACT Testing

There has been extensive media coverage about athletics and concussions.  York Catholic has been at the forefront in this area and includes the ImPACT Test (Immediate Post-Concussive Assessment and Cognitive Testing) to monitor our athletes.

All interscholastic athletes and cheerleaders are required to take an ImPACT Test to establish a cognitive baseline for concussions. This is an established technology used in order to determine the return to play/activity guidelines for participants who have sustained a concussion.

The test is administered on a computer.  The baseline is adequate for two years. Therefore, if a student participated on a YC team last season and had an ImPACT test, he or she is not required to repeat it this season.

Please email Mr. Brad Hayek at to see if a valid ImPACT Test is on file.  Athletes will NOT be permitted to practice until the test is completed.  It is the athlete’s responsibility to be sure the updated baseline report is on file at YC.  Students MUST check with Mr. Hayek to see if the updated ImPACT Test was transmitted properly and is on file.

If you have any questions, please contact Athletic Director Kevin Bankos, Athletic Director Emeritus Rick Luckman, or Assistant Athletic Director Brad Hayek, or Athletic Trainer Kyle Smink.
