Guidance
Support Today & Into the Future
The YC guidance team is focused on offering support to students and families in all aspects of their lives, helping them with their needs of today while guiding them to achieve goals for the future. Our students have big dreams and go on to do amazing things, and our approach to college and career counseling is a foundational part of our guidance center services. Ensuring students have access to the tools, resources, and expertise they need is critical to helping them set and achieve their post-high school goals.
Our school counselors know each student personally and work closely with them throughout their middle school and high school career to map out and set strategies to achieve their personal, academic, athletic, college and career goals. We also work with families and encourage open lines of communication and collaboration in support of each YC student.

Student & Family Services
YC’s guidance services include programs and resources focused on supporting students in all areas during their middle school and high school career, including:
Middle School Career Exploration
Career Exploration is an interactive hands-on class that introduces students in 8th grade to learning styles, employability skills, and career clusters. Throughout the semester-long course, students will explore learning styles and personality traits, develop employability skills, and discover opportunities in the 16 different career clusters. There is a heavy emphasis on participation and self-reflection in this course.
High School Career Exploration - SOAR
The High School SOAR class builds upon the foundations of the Middle School career exploration program and prepares students for their final years of high school and beyond. The course focuses on the four domains of Career Exploration and Readiness: Self-Knowledge, Exploration, Decision Making, and Action. Students deepen their knowledge of themselves, further explore college and career options, begin making decisions about their future plans, and create action steps to finish their last two years of high school and prepare to enter university or the workforce.
