High School Courses & Requirements

The high school experience at York Catholic is focused on providing a challenging and intellectually stimulating academic environment where students cultivate their knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical and philosophical analysis skills. As a private high school focused on preparing students for success in college and higher education, our approach to academics is created on fostering respectful student debate, cooperative learning, and a place where students can take on academic challenges not as risks, but as opportunities to grow toward their goals. Our 14:1 student to teacher ratio means more engaged classes where every student has a voice.

College Success Starts at YC

Students have the opportunity to customize their schedule, selecting from a range of electives and specialized course tracts that allow them to refine their areas of study to align with their academic goals and college and career plans. A key part of helping students prepare for college is by creating opportunities to engage in college experiences prior to graduation. At YC, a wide variety of advanced placement (AP) and honors courses, dual enrollment opportunities and college in the classroom advantages are offered. By creating a community of engaged learners, YC graduates are college-ready and career-prepared. A YC education is an investment in a successful higher education experience.  Take a look at these averages:

  • 90% of YC graduates move on to higher education at colleges and universities across the United States.
  • YC graduates are offered over $10 million in college scholarship funds.
  • YC graduates attend over 55 colleges and universities.
  • YC’s college relationships also ensure students who meet academic eligibility criteria benefit from guaranteed admission to a range of top colleges and universities.

We invite you to browse our high school course catalog to see the range of options students can consider as they set and work toward their college and career goals.

We follow a rotating schedule every 6 days and each day is assigned a letter (A-day, B-day, etc.). Within each day, there are 8 class periods plus one lunch period. Take a look at a sample High School schedule to get an idea of how our students spend their day.
