Pursuing Passions While Cultivating Critical Skills
YC high school students can participate in a wide range of extracurricular clubs that bring students together around collective interests and passions like art, faith, science, music, government, hobby interests and much more. In addition to having an opportunity for creative expression and to connect with classmates with similar interests and passions, YC high school clubs and activities help students practice and enhance critical learning foundations including time management and collaboration as well as build leadership and mentorship skills many colleges prioritize.
At YC, students are encouraged to try new things and explore new interests through participation. Many of our high schoolers are active in multiple clubs as well as the arts and athletics, creating a dynamic, well-rounded high school experience. Something for Everyone
“As a new student to YC, participation in extracurricular activities helped me forge new friendships. Through Student Council and Mock Trial, I honed my leadership and public speaking skills. I even co-founded a club my sophomore year! After discovering there was no existing club to pursue a mutual interest in entrepreneurship, a few friends and I submitted plans for a new club, ultimately earning administration’s approval and a teacher-sponsor. Along with the Entrepreneurship Club, Mock Trial, and Student Council Executive Board, I’m also in the National Honor Society, on the tennis team, and participate in YC’s annual speech competition. I appreciate YC’s willingness to go beyond classroom academics to support its students in their varied interests!”
